Custody of national standards of mass
One of the main objectives for a nationally and internationally acceptable measurement is to ensure that accurate measurements are applied and maintained in trade dealings conducted based on measurement. For measurement to be acceptable to both parties in a contract it must conform to the legally defined national measurement standards of a country based on the SI, within an acceptable degree of uncertainty. And be traceable to national and international standards which are held by BOBS.
The unit currently has mass pieces of E2 accuracy and are traceable to the international standard of mass. They are calibrated by competent laboratories on a regular basis to ensure their accuracy, and as per the requirements of the accreditation scope are regularly monitored through intermediate checks to ensure validity of the results that are produced by the laboratory. These are used to calibrate the secondary standards which in turn calibrate the working standards.
