Description

This Standard specifies the principal requirements intended to ensure the safety, reliability and performance of portable fire extinguishers. It is applicable to a fully charged extinguisher having a maximum mass of 20 kg. NOTE 1 In some cases, extinguishers having a total mass of up to 25 kg when fully charged may be approved, subject to local acceptance. NOTE 2 Cartridge type fire extinguishers are not recommended for use, hence not covered in the standard.

The Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) understands the importance of impartiality and confidentiality in carrying out its management system certification activities.
